FREQUENCY CONVERTERS ESQ

The frequency converter is a popular electronic device most commonly used in industry and public utilities. In these industries, electric drives are often used, where the main device is an asynchronous electric motor. To achieve a smooth start of such an engine and regulate its rotation speed, there are frequency converters. With their help, up to 50% of electricity is saved at startup and the production of engine mechanisms is significantly reduced.

The operation of the frequency converter is carried out due to the main links: an uncontrolled rectifier and a voltage inverter. In the first link, the rectifier, the standard frequency alternating current energy is converted into direct current energy. In the second link, an autonomous voltage inverter, DC energy is converted into AC energy with new adjustable values of frequency and voltage amplitude. An important node of such a two-link frequency converter is a filter installed in a DC circuit. A large-capacity capacitor connected in parallel is used as a filter.
